From January 1 to 6, 2021, the collective of companies and organizations spearheaded by the foundation distributed packs of rice and cash aid among residents of Lapu-Lapu City, specifically in Barangays Ibo, Mactan, and Punta Engano. Residents of Barangay Bolinawan and Ocana in Carcar, as well as seven barangays in the Municipality of Sibonga also benefited from aid.
Typhoon Odette barreled through the regions of Visayas and Mindanao shortly before Christmas last year on December 16, leaving hundreds dead across the country and survivors with no homes, water, and electricity until this day. Odette was the Philippines’ 15th tropical cyclone in 2021.
“We have been constantly reminded that our collective healing can only begin when concern for our fellow men and women moves us to work together”, said Taft Properties President Jack Gaisano.
The Tzu Chi Foundation is an international network of humanitarian volunteers that spans over 50 countries in 502 offices worldwide.
